I think the Tyson rotisserie chicken-breast strips and Motor City Pizza Co. pizzas are two of the best things to buy at Costco.

  • I’ve been shopping at Costco for 15 years, but my needs have changed since my kids moved out.
  • Now, I shop for two people and try to prioritize nutritious, protein-rich foods we both enjoy.
  • Some of my favorite items include the Kirkland Signature Greek yogurt and stir-fry vegetable blend.

As a Costco member of 15 years, my needs have definitely changed over time.

When my kids lived at home, I prioritized buying snacks in bulk. But now that I’m an empty-nester living with my partner, I focus more on nutritious, protein-rich foods that we both enjoy.

So, every two weeks, we drive 30 minutes to shop at Costco for our household of two. Here are seven items we always buy.

Plain Greek yogurt is a versatile staple in my fridge.

Kirkland Signature nonfat Greek yogurt is a high-protein base for both sweet and savory meals. I like to top my oatmeal with it, mix some into overnight oats, or use it as a substitute for sour cream or mayonnaise.

Kirkland Signature frozen organic blueberries are great to have in the freezer.

Whenever I make a Costco run, I pick up a bag of Kirkland Signature frozen organic blueberries. These small berries are sweet and flavorful, and are a great source of antioxidants and fiber.

I mix a cup into my oatmeal as it cooks, or put some on top of overnight oats. For an easy dessert, I use them to make an easy berry crumble.

These precooked, seasoned Tyson rotisserie chicken-breast strips are perfect for making a variety of easy meals.

I use them to top salads, bake them on a tortilla with pesto for a thin-crust pizza, or toss them into wraps and pasta dishes. Recently, I’ve been mixing the chicken with corn, cilantro, and black beans for a delicious taco-style salad.

I like that Costco's take on oat milk is shelf-stable.

One of my favorite things about the Kirkland Signature non-dairy oat beverage is that it doesn’t need to be refrigerated until it’s opened. So, we can put one carton in the fridge and store the others in the pantry until we’re ready to use them.

I use it to prep overnight oats or chia-seed pudding. It also tastes great in iced coffee.

PB2 peanut butter is a unique pantry staple.

I always grab a container of PB2 powdered peanut butter, which has less fat and calories than traditional versions of the spread.

It’s great when added to smoothies or chia-seed pudding. And to make a delicious dip for apples, I mix it with honey and Greek yogurt.

When the kids stop by, we love having Motor City Pizza Co. pepperoni pizza.

I can’t get over how flavorful and crunchy the Motor City Pizza Co. Detroit-style frozen pizzas are. They’re perfect for an impromptu pizza night, especially if the kids stop by.

Another bonus? They’re ready in the oven in the same amount of time it would take to order take-out.

I love making simple meals using the Kirkland Signature stir-fry vegetable blend.

Having the Kirkland Signature stir-fry vegetable blend in the freezer guarantees I can always come up with something delicious for dinner.

These veggies cook quickly and can be eaten with meat, fish, chicken, or tofu.
