The feud between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk appears to be thawing out.

Trump said on Monday that he has a “good” relationship with the world’s richest man despite Musk’s “stupid moment” earlier this year.

He also said that he’s spoken with Musk “on and off, a little bit” since they were seen chatting at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service in September.

“I like Elon, I’ve always liked him,” Trump told reporters on board Air Force One as he traveled between Malaysia and Japan.

Trump referenced the public and nasty feud that broke out between the two men in June, which was largely triggered by Musk’s opposition to the “Big Beautiful Bill.” That came shortly after Musk departed the administration after leading the DOGE effort.

“He had a bad spell, he had a bad period. He had a bad moment,” Trump said. “It was a stupid moment in his life, very stupid. I’m sure he’d tell you that. But I like Elon, and I suspect I always will.”

Musk has largely toned down his criticism of Trump since the summer, and he has made little mention in recent months of the new third party that he said he would form after Trump’s megabill passed.

That hasn’t stopped Musk from criticizing members of Trump’s administration.
