- I tried all the Chick-fil-A dipping sauces and ranked them from worst to best.
- I wasn’t a fan of the cilantro lime or Polynesian sauces.
- However, I loved the honey-roasted barbecue, sweet and spicy Sriracha, and Chick-fil-A sauces.
Chick-fil-A is one of my favorite fast-food chains. As a self-proclaimed “sauce queen,” I love the restaurant’s famous condiments.
I’ve always been a fan of the namesake Chick-fil-A sauce, but wanted to see how it compared to the brand’s other offerings.
So, on a recent visit, I tried all nine of the dipping sauces and ranked them from my least favorite to my top pick. To keep things fair, I tried them all with Chick-fil-A’s breaded chicken nuggets.
Here’s how the nine options stacked up.
I thought the cilantro lime sauce tasted like mayo.
The cilantro lime sauce is described by Chick-fil-A as being “creamy” and “cool.” However, I found it lacked flavor and mostly tasted like mayonnaise.
Overall, I didn’t enjoy this sauce and can’t imagine it adding much flavor to any of the Chick-fil-A dishes.
Chick-fil-A’s Polynesian sauce was too sweet for me.
A lot of people I know enjoy Chick-fil-A’s Polynesian sauce, but I found it to be disappointing.
It’s essentially a twist on sweet and sour sauce, but I found it paled in comparison to the versions I’ve had at other chains like McDonald’s.
In my opinion, it was too sweet, and I didn’t like the thick, syrupy consistency.
The zesty Buffalo sauce let me down.
I’m a huge fan of both spicy and mild Buffalo sauce, so I was excited to try Chick-fil-A’s version.
However, it was a bummer right from the start. It’s much thinner than the typical Buffalo sauce, and although it had a pleasant tang, there was no detectable spice to it.
Next time, I may try combining it with the garden herb ranch to make it creamy.
I enjoyed the honey mustard.
I love honey mustard and was pleasantly surprised by the one from Chick-fil-A. It was less sweet than many others I’ve tried, and the mustard flavor was prominent.
There was also a hint of turmeric, which offered an earthy taste that further balanced out the sweetness of the honey.
All around, this is a great honey mustard for those who prefer a less-sweet version of the sauce.
The garden herb ranch had a lot of flavor.
I thought Chick-fil-A’s garden herb ranch sauce was really good. There were layers of flavor — garlic, herbs, and buttermilk — and it was creamy, cool, and tangy.
It’s a perfect accompaniment for a variety of menu items, making it one of the most versatile sauces at the chain.
I love how herby it was, which perfectly balanced out the richness of the buttermilk.
Chick-fil-A’s barbecue sauce was delicious.
This was a bit thinner than other barbecue sauces I’ve tried, which was a plus in my book.
I often find barbecue sauces too sweet, but I thought this one was perfect. It packed a punch of flavor and was very peppery with onion and garlic flavors.
The honey-roasted barbecue sauce had a unique flavor.
The honey-roasted barbecue sauce is one of my favorites at Chick-fil-A.
The unique sauce has both sweet and smoky flavors, making it a perfect pairing for any of the restaurant’s chicken dishes. I found it similar to the famous Chick-fil-A sauce — but a bit sweeter.
I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet and spicy Sriracha sauce.
This was my first time trying the sweet and spicy Sriracha sauce, and it was an unexpected hit.
It took me on a true flavor journey, with the sweetness hitting first, followed by the spice of the chile peppers.
It’s best described as an elevated sweet and sour sauce — like Chick-fil-A took its Polynesian sauce and made it better with the addition of spice and tang. It’s also less sweet than the Polynesian version.
However, it has a very distinct taste, so it might be polarizing to some guests.
The Chick-fil-A sauce was the clear winner.
Simply put, Chick-fil-A sauce is amazing. It’s subtly sweet with smoky flavors, just the right amount of tang, and notes of mustard.
The overall flavor is unique and unlike anything I’ve ever tried at other restaurants.
