Elon Musk is back on a tear against President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” — and is threatening to defeat Republicans who vote for it in future primaries.
“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame,” Musk wrote on X on Monday afternoon. “And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
Musk, who previously said he would scale back his political spending, could theoretically use his immense wealth to fund primary challengers in districts across the country.
Since his public feud with Trump earlier this month, Musk has been relatively quiet on the bill, which the tech titan has opposed both for its impact on the deficit and its scaling back of green energy subsidies.
That changed over the weekend, and Musk’s missive on Monday — issued just hours before the Senate was set to vote on final passage of the bill — was his starkest political threat yet against Republicans who support it.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
