The District of Columbia doesn’t have representation in the Senate, but it sure does well on the Miss USA stage.
In 2016, Deshauna Barber won Miss District of Columbia, and Kára McCullough placed first runner-up. Barber went on to win Miss USA, while McCullough won Miss District of Columbia in 2017. That year, Barber crowned McCullough the new Miss USA. It was the first time a place had won back-to-back Miss USA titles since the Texas Aces’ reign.
