Shots of Fireball could soon get pricier.

The Trump administration’s threatened 50% tariffs on some popular Canadian goods went into effect Saturday morning after trade talks with its northern ally fell apart the night before.

President Donald Trump first announced the new round of tariffs last month to “offset Canadian discrimination” against American cars, dairy, and alcohol.

US and Canadian officials had been working on a deal to avoid the tariffs all week. Trump said in a Truth Social post earlier in the week that the deal was close.
