Spielberg is no stranger to delving into science fiction, but unlike “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “E.T.,” and “War of the Worlds,” here he uses his brand of storytelling to make the case that we aren’t alone in the universe.

Now, does that mean we also have people among us who can read thoughts, can teleport into other people’s lives, and be invisible while holding a special stick? I don’t know, but it all makes for an entertaining story.

“Disclosure Day” is fueled by Spielberg’s tireless ambition, but Emily Blunt provides a big assist, with a charged performance as a woman who learns she is our connection to what else is out there.
