  • I travel constantly for tennis, so my grocery routine is all about efficiency and fuel.
  • From pantry staples to snacks, I rely on Trader Joe’s products to help me hit my protein goals.
  • I always pick up items like the plain Greek yogurt, jasmine rice, and Argentinian red shrimp.

I’ve been a professional tennis player since I graduated from college in 2024, and whether I’m training at home in California or on the road for tournaments, eating well is non-negotiable.

That said, I’m not the type who likes to spend hours meal prepping or cooking complicated recipes. Instead, I like to focus on quick meals with ingredients that have protein and are easy to throw together between workouts.

Here are 10 items I consistently stock up on at Trader Joe’s to stay fueled, focused, and ready for the court.

The grilled chimichurri chicken thigh skewers are super flavorful.

These chicken skewers are a game changer when I need a quick, high-protein dinner that doesn’t feel boring.

The chimichurri marinade is super flavorful — garlicky and herby with just the right kick. Plus, the chicken stays juicy even after reheating.

I’ll eat them straight off the skewer with a side salad or chop them up to throw into a bowl with rice and veggies.

Speaking of rice, Trader Joe’s organic jasmine rice is a perfect base for protein-packed meals.

Trader Joe’s microwavable organic jasmine rice is ready in three minutes and saves me so much time.

I like to mix the rice with chicken, shrimp, or leftover veggies for an easy meal.

For something elevated but quick, I like to cook Argentinian red shrimp.

These Argentinian red shrimp take less than 15 minutes to cook and taste amazing when pan-fried with garlic, lemon, and olive oil.

I like to serve them with rice or pasta to complete the meal.

I use egg wraps as the base for quick breakfasts.

These egg wraps are perfect for fast breakfasts or quick snacks on the go. I’ll stuff one with turkey, avocado, and spinach for a light but satisfying post-practice snack.

Plain Greek yogurt is a versatile and reliable ingredient.

Depending on my needs that day, I like to mix Greek yogurt with honey, fruit, granola, or protein powder.

I also use it in smoothies or as a sour cream swap when I’m trying to keep things clean.

Peanut butter protein granola is my go-to snack on the road.

I pack individual servings of the peanut butter protein granola in my tennis bag and eat it dry or with Greek yogurt between matches.

It’s sweet, crunchy, and hits the spot after a tough workout.

For a grab-and-go lunch, I like to have a spicy lentil wrap with spicy tahini sauce.

Trader Joe’s vegetarian spicy lentil wraps are super filling.

I love that they don’t fall apart or get soggy, so they’re easy to bring with me if I have a long training day or a flight.

I love popping these jalapeño and cream cheese crispy wontons in the air fryer for a quick snack.

These crispy jalepeño and cream cheese wontons are my go-to when I want something that feels indulgent but has a decent balance of fat and flavor.

They’re spicy, creamy, and satisfying — almost like a mini version of jalapeño poppers.

I always keep a jar of creamy almond butter in my pantry.

I like to add almond butter to smoothies, eat it with bananas, or just go in with a spoon when I need something filling between sessions.

My favorite sweet treat is Trader Joe’s milk-chocolate-covered peanut butter pretzels.

Trader Joe’s milk-chocolate-covered peanut butter pretzels are my go-to sweet treat.

The peanut butter adds a little protein, and the salty-sweet combo hits perfectly after a long training block.

They’re satisfying without being too heavy, and I never feel like I’ve gone off-track.
