Leighton Meester, 39, says carving out time for herself sometimes means starting her day earlier than expected.
The “Gossip Girl” star told People in an interview published Friday that she enjoys taking morning baths as a form of self-care.
“If I have a 5 a.m. call or something, I’ll be like, ‘Okay, I’ll do a 4 a.m. bath and I’ll get in there and do what I need to do,” Meester said.
She added that she occasionally uses that time to get things done by bringing her laptop in and balancing it on her knees.
As a working mom of two, Meester — who is married to actor Adam Brody — says she appreciates “moments of calm and peace because life just keeps going.”

“But I feel like there’s a nice balance for me with creativity and my work life, which is fortunately my creative life as well. I’m very, very lucky in that way, that I really like what I do,” Meester said.
Outside of work, she says devoting her time and energy to her family is what gives her “the most fulfilment.”
“Allotting time just for me and then just for my family is vital, and it’s the only way to actually really give my all to every part of my life,” Meester said.
This isn’t the first time Meester has spoken about her morning routine. Earlier this month, she told Marie Claire that she is a “bath person.”
“It isn’t that I go into my bath planning to spend hours there — although I can and I will,” she said.
Meester is not the only celebrity to have spoken about their favorite morning rituals.
During a July podcast appearance, Cindy Crawford said she starts her mornings offline and outdoors.
“I listen to a Bible podcast or whatever. Every morning, they read a Bible verse, and then someone does a summary of it. That’s my first input while I’m doing my dry brushing and I’m putting body oil on. I don’t look at my messages or emails until I’ve taken that time for myself,” she said.
In October, Kate Hudson said that her morning routine involves meditating and spending time in the sun.
“I wake around 6 a.m. and do some sort of meditation practice while I drink warm water with lemon. I also try not to look at my phone during this time,” Hudson said.
